Breathing New Life

Phase 1 – environmental clean-up, surface minerals extraction

  • +100,000 tonnes of 3 g/t contaminated soil to be extracted from the Beaconsfield wetlands as part of the environmental rehabilitation of the land

  • Processing plant to be refurbished

  • Gold production to commence in Q3 2021 (est)

“The majority of our on-site electricity at Beaconsfield is renewable”

Phase 2 – Expansion: re-open underground and new exploration

Re-open underground – new 3.6km decline to 430m level

  • Feasibility study to be completed Q2 2021

  • 3.6km decline to be installed to reconnect into the existing mine working at the 430 metre level

  • New decline box-cut to commence Q4 2021 (est)

Re-treatment and exploration

Outside of the JORC compliant resource:

Retreatment

  • 67,000 ounces of gold potential exists in Tailings Dam #1

Surface to 415 metres

  • Significant additional gold potential is still to be assessed in the upper section of the old Beaconsfield Mine workings from surface to the 415m level

Production History

The Tasmania Mine (Now referred to the Beaconsfield Gold Mine) is located 40km north-west of Launceston in the town of Beaconsfield in Tasmania, Australia. The Tasmania Mine area is covered by Mining Lease 1767P/M.

Mining at Beaconsfield is centred on the rich Tasmania Reef. Prospectors discovered the Tasmania Reef in 1877.  Mining between 1877 and 1914 yielded 854,600 ounces of gold at an average grade of 24.3 g/t. Dewatering difficulties caused the mine’s closure in 1914.

In 1998 after 84 years of inactivity, with a further million ounces of gold recovered between 1998-2013 – more than 1.8m ounces over the mine’s full history from 1877.  Over the course of the mine’s history significant volumes of water, containing sediment, were pumped out and left to run into the adjacent wetlands.
