Primary uses of gold
According to the World Gold Council global annual gold production typically ranges between 2,500-3,000 tonnes per year. Its primary uses cover jewellery, investment, electronics and industrial.

In the US, outside of bullion, over a third of gold is used in electronics – notably mobiles, laptops and PCs (USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries). To put that in context, there are circa a 1.5billion new phones sold each year and, according to U.S. Geological Survey, 0.034 grams of gold in each device.
